NBHA Awards Banquet

We had our banquet last night here in RI. We received our World Qualifier Certifcate, Our State Championship Trophy Buckle ( I love those buckles) and Our Year End Championship. A really nice black director's chair with hot pink embroirdery saying what we won it for.

The New England director attended and we had a really nice time as she sat at my table, by her own choice. Believe it or not I do have some friends LOL.

I would like to congratulate Jessica S of USTA on her award that she is receiving tonight.

We are getting ready for another really nasty Monday in the weather department so everyone stay safe.
We are hoping for warmer weather with good footing sooner rather than later.

A Big Weekend

Tomorrow night is the NBHA RI-01 Award Banquet. It is a pot luck so I have been busy with the food thing.

I am also on the awards committee. Championship awards are black directors chairs with the backs embroidered by Irene Parker of Signet Monogramming of Saco, Maine. The rest of the awards are Gift Certificates from Allies Tack here in RI.

I have put together two expensive raffles, both over $200.00. So, we must sell lots of tickets but I will say they are both worth more than $200.00.

We had 3 inches of rain today with high winds, ending with snow. Winter in New England.

I will post after the party.

Finally, A Barn Visit

I was finally able to get to the barn this morning. The weather was cold and very windy. Duncan and Jupiter are all fuzzy and happy campers.

I picked up 2 of their wind sheets to bring home to wash. Believe me they have plenty of clothes.

Tonight is the party in NJ, good luck to them.

Next Sat night is the NBHA Awards banquet, I'm looking forward to that one for many reasons.

Duncan's dance card is rapidly filling and it looks like more than a couple of trips to Maine.

We have more snow headed in here late tonight and all day tomorrow.
I really want Spring.

A Cold Update

The day before yesterday was the end of our warmer days and my husband and I went out and shut the horses into their stalls about 1:30pm due to the fact that the wind had really come up strong. My husband was very amused at the big brown walking pile of fur OOPS I mean my beautiful Show Horse Duncan. He looks like a fuzzy Yak folks.

We have an appointment for the end of March for him to get an all over hair cut.

The warmer temps went away very quickly it was almost instant freeze and for the for-seeable future it's going to be very cold.

I really like that going gaited article and I especially liked how she went into what the breed is all about and that they are like everyother breed out there.

I love the pacing bred STBs so I can have gaited and "normal" gaits. Many people don't want the gaited side of the breed and to my mind that is very sad as it is part of their heritage. My advice to them is if you don't want the gaits get a Totter. JMO.

So, again everyone stay safe.
Our NBHA Awards banquet is the 26th of this month and yes we have a couple headed our way.

Welcome February, I think....

WOW, what a month this has been already. We certainly have had a basketful of nasty weather and here in RI, yesterday, that latest storm dumped liquid that FROZE solid. I mean you had better have ice skates to get from point A to point B.

There have been a lot of roof cave ins, more than a few involving Indoor facilities. As far as I know there have only been minor injuries to horses. Many schools here in RI are still closed until roofs can be inspected and cleaned off. The same with a lot of the bog box stores. Just not nice at all.
Duncan is hunkered down at Chris' house with his buddy Jupiter and his pet rabbit George. Yes, Duncan has a pet rabbit, they even eat together out of the same grain pan,.

If you are so inclined and want to read a really nice article about Duncan and the re training of STBs, go to www.goinggaited.com Click on Columns and read the 2nd article in the Column.

I am sure there are folks out there who are not happy, but, that's them.

Also There are more show dates comming along and in my next post I'll list the ones I have. If anyone is in the area of where we are going to be Duncan is always up for meeting new people.

Everyone stay safe and warm.
